Kaleen, along with Giralang, is often seen as the poor cousin of the electorate of Yerrabi. Kaleen usually identifies more with Belconnen than Gungahlin. This can lead to sub-par representation. It’s so easy for policies aimed at Gungahlin to ignore anything across the Barton Highway.
Kaleen has always been a big part of my life. I lived here until moving to Gungahlin to start my own family. I started my working life with my family software development business that is still based in Kaleen. I still work in the business today.
I want to make sure that every resident in the electorate feels they are represented. I want to hear from you about what’s important to you this election. You can reach out online, leave a comment at the bottom of this page, or catch me at a campaign stall in Kaleen.
I’ve already had a few campaign stalls in Kaleen and heard about some issues on your mind, but I’d love to hear more. Kaleen is at a different stage than many Gungahlin suburbs.
Some of the most common items are about city presentation and maintenance. Broken footpaths and unkempt public spaces top the list – maybe Kaleen isn’t so different from the rest of the electorate!
I’ve also heard about the sporting facilities at Kaleen. Kaleen Enclosed Oval is in need of a new training facility, upgraded community amenities, and upgraded change rooms.
What else do you want for Kaleen?
